Creative Wellness vs Other TMS Clinics in Washington

Quick Answer: Many TMS clinics in Washington offer TMS and very little else. Creative Wellness offers TMS, Spravato, counseling, medication management, and genetic testing under one roof, across our three Washington locations. For most patients, that means fewer providers to coordinate, faster adjustments when something isn't working, and a treatment plan that can flex as their needs change.
When you start researching TMS in Washington, you'll find a lot of clinics offering it. On the surface, they look similar - same FDA-approved technology, same general process, similar pitch. The differences are harder to spot from the outside.
One of the biggest differences is also one of the easiest to miss: what happens if TMS alone isn't enough.
The TMS-only model: what most clinics look like
The standard model in Washington is a clinic that does TMS and not much else. Maybe a consultation, maybe Spravato, but the core offering is the TMS course.
For patients who respond well to TMS alone, this model works fine. You come in, you do your sessions, you finish your course, you feel better.
The problems start when one of these is true:
- TMS doesn't work as well as hoped. Roughly half of TMS patients respond strongly. Others see partial improvement. Some need a different combination of treatments to get all the way there.
- You need medication adjustments during or after TMS. Many patients are on antidepressants when they start. The right next step is sometimes a tweak - but who handles that?
- Therapy would help alongside TMS. Research consistently shows therapy and TMS work better together for many conditions. But your TMS clinic doesn't offer therapy.
- A different treatment turns out to be a better fit. Sometimes the original plan needs to change — to Spravato, to medication management, to therapy, or to a combination.
At a TMS-only clinic, the answer is the same in every scenario: "you'll need to see someone else for that." That means new referrals, new wait times, new intake paperwork, new providers who don't know your history.
The Creative Wellness model: services that work together
Creative Wellness offers TMS, but we also offer:
- Counseling and therapy - individual, couples, and family
- Spravato (esketamine) - for treatment-resistant depression
- Medication management - full psychiatric prescribing and monitoring
- Genetic testing- to guide medication choices through Tempus NeuroPsych
- TMS for teens (15 and up- the only FDA-approved use of TMS in adolescents, available through our NeuroStar device
All of these are available through the same clinic, the same team, and the same patient file. That changes what happens when a treatment plan needs to shift.

What this looks like in practice
Three common scenarios, side by side.
Scenario 1: TMS works, but you also need therapy
TMS-only clinic: They recommend you find a therapist. You spend weeks finding one who's accepting new patients and takes your insurance. You then have to coordinate communication between your TMS clinic and your therapist - assuming both are willing to talk to each other.
Creative Wellness: Your therapist is already in the same building. They can coordinate directly with the TMS team. Notes are shared. Adjustments happen quickly.
Scenario 2: TMS doesn't work as well as hoped
TMS-only clinic: The course wraps up. Improvement was partial. The clinic refers you out for what to try next - likely a psychiatrist for medication changes, possibly a separate Spravato clinic, possibly a therapist. Each of those is a new referral with its own waitlist.
Creative Wellness: The same team that handled your TMS can move you into Spravato, medication management, or therapy without restarting the patient relationship. They already know your history, what you've tried, and what didn't work.
Scenario 3: You're not sure where to start
TMS-only clinic: They evaluate you for TMS specifically. If TMS isn't the right fit, they refer you elsewhere.
Creative Wellness: The evaluation looks at the full picture. If TMS is the best first step, we do TMS. If therapy and medication management are the better path, we start there. The answer isn't predetermined by what the clinic happens to offer.
Why this actually matters
Coordination of care isn't just convenient - it changes outcomes. A few practical reasons:
- Fewer gaps between treatments. When one treatment ends, and another begins, the handoff at a single clinic is days, not weeks.
- No repeating your story. Your full history stays with one team. You don't re-explain your medications, your diagnoses, or what you've already tried every time you see someone new.
- Faster adjustments. If you're having side effects from medication during TMS, the prescriber and TMS team are talking to each other the same day, not the same month.
- One scheduling system, one billing system. Reducing friction sounds small until you've tried to coordinate three different clinics on three different insurance authorizations.
- A team that knows you over time. As your needs change - and most patients' needs change at some point- the people responding already have the context.
What an integrated clinic should still meet
Choosing an integrated provider over a single-service one doesn't mean lowering the bar on the basics. Whether you go with Creative Wellness or another clinic, the same standards apply:
- FDA-cleared TMS technology. We use NeuroStar, which is also the only FDA-cleared TMS device for adolescents 15+.
- Experienced clinical team. Dr. Ashley Keays as Medical Director, Dr. David Simonsen with 25+ years in relationship and individual therapy, plus our psychiatric and TMS team.
- Transparent pricing and insurance support. Full pricing published on the site; free benefits checks before you commit.
- Multiple locations for accessibility. Olympia, University Place, and Yelm.
When a TMS-only clinic is fine
To be fair: not every patient needs an integrated model. If you've already got a strong psychiatrist, a therapist you trust, and you're confident TMS is the missing piece, a TMS-only clinic can deliver that one piece well. Plenty of patients are well-served by clinics like that.
Where integrated care matters most is when:
- You don't already have a treatment team in place
- You've tried multiple treatments and need someone to coordinate the next steps
- Your situation might require adjustments to medication or the addition of therapy mid-treatment
- You want the option to evolve your care without starting over with new providers
Is integrated care more expensive?
Not necessarily. Each service is priced the same whether you're a new patient or already in our system — TMS at $150 per session, counseling at $180 per session, medication management at $150 per session. The savings tend to show up in indirect ways: less time off work, fewer duplicate evaluations, and less need to switch clinics if your needs change.
Do I have to use all your services to come to Creative Wellness?
No. Many patients come for one service — just TMS, just therapy, just medication management. The integrated model is there if and when you need it, not as a requirement.
Can I keep my existing psychiatrist or therapist and just come to you for TMS?
Yes. Many patients do exactly this. We coordinate with your existing providers throughout your TMS course.
Are all your locations equally equipped?
Different services are available at different locations - for example, Spravato isn't offered at every location. We'll match you with the right location for the treatment you need at your initial consultation.
